How to stay warm this winter!
With the clock change and autumn leaves on the ground, it is now time to start thinking ahead to the drops in temperature and preparing your home for it too!

How to save money and stay warm this winter!
Utilita Energy has put together a new consumer behaviour change campaign for addressing the cold winter we are expecting for 2021/22. With the increase in fuel prices, in place since October 2021, many brits have been left looking for alternative means to stay warm this year.
Utilita Energy's behaviour campaign suggests to keep your heating at no higher than 21 degrees and source other ways of staying warm.
"Keep your central heating at 21 degrees or less".
To help combat the rising fuel costs, experts are suggesting to not over do it on the heating and go with the "wear warm" tactic! The ‘Wear Warm’ campaign will be featured nationwide at 657 charity shops. The campaign was officially launched by former footballer David James and British fashion designer Wayne Hemmingway.
James, a former England goalkeeper and environmentalist, said: “One of my personal bugbears is seeing people sitting at home in the winter, wearing a T-shirt, with the heating cranked up. There’s absolutely no sense in it, and now we have the evidence to reveal the impact that this type of behaviour is having on the planet and the pocket.
The campaign encourages households to wear that extra layer to stay warm, opt for a warm blanket when relaxing in the evening and turn off radiators in rooms where they are not required. Not only will this help reduce energy bills, it will also have a positive impact on the environment. And you might even enjoy snuggling under a blanket with your loved one!
Supported by charities
Charity shops up and down the country are getting involved in supporting the "wear warm" campaign. With the view to help with fuel poverty, 13.4% of households, the equivalent to 3.18 million households in the UK are suffering with fuel poverty, based on the latest figures available from 2019. Realistically this figure is projected to be much higher in 2021 due to the increase in fuel costs. The charity shop incentive means buying those extra layers of clothing doesn't have to cost the earth and also encourages those in a more fortune position to donate anything they can to local charity shops to help support the cause.
