5 Projected Bathroom Trends for 2022

Darren Mayne • Nov 21, 2021

Over the decades bathrooms styles and trends have adapted. From the 60th were we saw the collection of bright hues of green, pink and blue, to the 80s were heavy duty China sinks and toilets with decorative features made a come back. We are projecting what the latest trends are going to be for 2022.

1. Sustainability

2020-2021; due to COVID has been the years of sustainability, reduction of waste and green-living. It is almost certain that 2022 will see a shift in more sustainable approaches to bathroom designs. We expect to see an increase in use of water-saving showers and tapthe bathroom by allowing users to better control their water usage.

We are also likely to see more natural elements taking centre stage in the bathroom throughout 2022. We expect materials like natural stone; brown, grey, and beige colour palettes; and the inclusion of lots of plants to be popular among bathroom interiors in 2022. This is also likely to be accompanied by transparent and spacious shower enclosures which allow you to enhance natural lighting – the illusion of bringing the outside, in.

2. Black Accents

White, white gloss and the sterile feel to bathrooms has been a trend for a few years now, while it hasn't quite gone away, the introduction of black accent features is certaining creating a buzz. Bold yet soft industrialism is likely to be trend in bathroom design in 2022, with black accents being particularly common in delivering an urban feel.

Updating your bathroom to include this trend could be a relatively easy and cost effective way of modernising your space. If you have clean white and simple features. Simply opt for black taps, black shower mixer, and bold black shower trays. This trend  will give your bathroom structure and inject a little liveliness to your space, particularly when complemented by transparent glass and neutral colours.

3. Wooden Features

Combining the thought process of sustainability, and bringing the outside, in, wooden bathroom features are likely to make a come back in 2022. We expect to see a rise in wooden bathroom furniture next year, thus adding an element of warmth to any bathroom and being able to completely transform your home.

These warmer tones not only look fantastic, but wood is a highly practical, versatile material that can be used to complement a wide variety of styles – from modern, traditional, to rustic. This helps to create a warm and cosy atmosphere in your bathroom space – the kind of feelings you’d want to evoke when stepping into the bath or shower after a long day.

4. Brassware

Brassware had all but vanished from modern interior trends up until this year, but in 2022, it is expected to make a real comeback. Integrating a trendy art deco twist  to your bathing space with elegant gold or brass taps is certainly looking to be a popular trend.

From gold towel rings to toilet roll holders, to taps and showerheads, these affordable bathroom accessories will transform the look and feel of your bathroom, creating a luxurious - 5-star hotel feel.

Brassware provides the perfect combination of industrial design with classy elements, leaving your bathroom with all it needs to both feel authentic and impress your guests.

5. Feature-wall Tiles

A final, popular bathroom trend for 2022 is the use of unique tiles. Although this will mean different things depending on the style and personality of your bathroom, a small feature wall of bold and stylish tiles is a great way to portray your personality within your bathroom design.

There are a few particular trends of tiles that we predict will be popular in 2022:

– Geometric tiles
– 3D tiles
– Illusory tiles
– Graphite tiles

Again, retiling your bathroom can be a pretty straight forward and non-costly way of modernising. If you have a large empty wall space behind a bath or shower, this is the one to opt for. Create a standout, eye-catching statement with tiles totally out of the box and it will revolutionise your bathing space.
