The ultimate tips to save water at home!
Everyone is always looking for ways to be less wasteful, more eco-conscious and save more £££ this top tips guide is the perfect place to help you cut your water bill!

How often do you stop to think about how much water you're using around your home?
As a nation we are very conscious about spending wasteful hard earned money on electricity, switching off lights as we exit rooms, unplugging all unused electrical items. But what about water?
We typically don't think about water in the same way, it is one of the cheaper utility bills, but there are still many reasons to pay more attention, help reduce water waste and reduce your bills!
Gardening
Let's face it, in the UK we have an abundance of rain water, so on summer days when the gardens need a watering, this is well welcome by many gardeners. But what about those days of no rain? We go to the main source of water and replenish our gardens through the tap. Investing in a water butt can save your household £££ all year round. The water butt will collect and store water from your gutters and drainpipes, which you can then use to water your grass and plants during times of lower rainfall.
Dish Washing
If you own a dish washer, and no I don't mean your other half... be sure to only switch it on when it is completely full. Not only does this save on electricity but water too. Switching it on on a full load will half the amount of time it is used and therefore saves water!
If you are still one of the thousands of people doing hand washing, always fill a bowl or the sick with warm water instead of leaving the tap running. Try it - just the once though mind. If you doing all the washing up under a running tap, that single bowl will fill up 3-4 times over. Using the same water, starting with the cleanest of items and working your way up will still ensure everything has a through clean while also saving water.
Teeth Cleaning
How many of you are guilty for leaving the tap running when cleaning your teeth?
Think about it, why do we do it?
All that water pouring into the sink, for what?
It takes less than a second to turn the tap back on when we need to rinse so just stop and think about the £££ you're pouring away!
You can save 3,000 gallons per year just by turning off the water when you brush your teeth!
Showering
Showers account for 17% of a homes indoor water use.
Reducing the time spent in the shower or leaving it to 'warm up' for a while when we do something else all makes a massive difference to water costs.
Be mindful of the temperature you need and even if it means standing there for 10 seconds longer, it is so much more beneficial to be in the shower while it reaches temperature.Reducing your shower time from 10 minutes to 5 minutes will save over 12 gallons of water a year - that's 45 litre bottles full!
You can also switch to an eco shower head. These are super easy to switch over yourself and are designed to limit the water spray for a more concentrated flow and reduced consumption.
Fixing leaks
It might seem obvious to some, but for many a small leak isn't cause for concern. That little trickle everyday is actually amounting to a huge problem. Thames Water estimates that a trickling leak in your toilet could waste up to 200 litres of water a day. Major leaks, known as rippling or flowing, could waste up to 600 and 8,000 litres a day respectively.
