While the industrial look is in for 2019 with many trending bars, restaurants and hotels exposing ceiling pipes and adding in concrete block finishes. This is not the style of choice for all. Especially in the home.
Many of us are opting for a more minimalist or clinical look in their bathrooms and kitchens with white suites and monochrome tiles. The thought of exposed pipework is very much an unwanted feature.
Here are some tips which can help conceal those unwanted pipes.
Choosing bathroom or kitchen furniture which conceals pipes is a great start.
The use of vanity units in bathrooms is an increasing trend. Not only do they cover exposed basin pipework, they also double up as storage which adds to the minimalist look.
In addition, a simple 'boxing them in' tactic can work wonders and should not be dismissed. It is a very simplistic fix if more furniture is not an option. The process of buying some wood and skews is all it can take to box in unwanted pipes. Then finish it off with paint, paper or tiles!
Remodeling your bathroom or kitchen might not be at the top of your agenda, but if it is an option on the horizon, it can certainly be an effective way of concealing those pipes. Hiding pipework in walls or getting a professional in to move the pipes is the most effective but costly way of disguising them.
A more cost effective way is to get a little creative.
Adding accessories such as plants or mirrors is a great way of taking the eye away from the pipework. While a palm plant in your bathroom might not totally hide the unwanted pipework, it will certainly be a welcome distraction from it.
This will work for both real or faux plants, but be sure if purchasing real plants that they will thrive in the indoors.
